Trevor has been one of my PhD supervisors since October 2019. From the outset, Trevor has encouraged me to seize opportunities that enhance my academic experience. His proactive approach led me to join the Code-Switch Research Consultancy Programme, where I gained project management skills and insights. Moreover, Trevor often identifies relevant conferences where I can present my research, thereby boosting my confidence and expanding my professional network.
In addition to being encouraging, Trevor is also positive and good at asking probing questions about the meaning of results I obtain – which often leads to interesting discussions and perspectives. We also often read and discuss papers, resulting in both of us gaining a deeper understanding of the paper and its importance. Crucially, he consistently urges me to broaden the scope of my research and consider its implications within a wider context.
As I approach the end of my PhD, I am grateful to have had Trevor as a supervisor. He is supportive, friendly, and encouraging, which has helped me grow into a more confident and capable researcher.
